      Basic ABC Handshapes

This is very first thing you should learn before you expose yourself in the Deaf world. The ABC's are simply handshapes that represents a certain letter, A for A. Most of the times you will have to spell out a word that do not have a sign for it. For example: John Smith. It does not have a sign because it is a person's name which means you will have to spell it out. This is a good pratice for you to learn ABC's first before you take a step ahead in signing.

Not to worry about spelling out all the times. It will ENABLE you to socalize with deaf people and they CERTAINLY WILL show or teach you some signs!! We want you to learn ASL and be able to socalize with us!
